How to Play Blackjack

Basic strategy is a mathematically proven set of decisions based on your cards and the dealer's visible card. It won't guarantee you win every hand, but it does reduce the house edge to under 1% in many blackjack games.

Card Counting Explained
Card counting is a legal strategy that attempts to estimate whether the remaining deck contains more high cards or low cards. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't predict the next card - it simply helps skilled players identify when the odds become slightly more favourable.
Most players use the Hi-Lo system, assigning values to cards as they're dealt and keeping a running count throughout the shoe.

10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace = -1
A positive count suggests more high cards remain, slightly improving the player's chances. A negative count generally favours the casino.
Card counting is ineffective in RNG blackjack because every hand starts with a freshly shuffled deck. It may still be possible at some live dealer tables that don't reshuffle after every hand.

Insurance & Side Bets
Blackjack tables often offer optional bets alongside the main game. While they can make each hand more exciting, they generally carry a much higher house edge than standard blackjack.
Insurance becomes available when the dealer shows an Ace. You can wager up to half your original stake that the dealer's hidden card is worth ten, creating a blackjack.
